Fried Chicken is at the top of our list when it comes to dishes that we normally order outside or cooked at home. Filipino style recipe is really good and feels like home, but the Korean Style Fried Chicken takes it to another level. It's something that you would want to cook when it's a special occasion or you want to wow your guests with your food.
Koreans are known for their Fried Chicken, and I get it now. Theirs are so good! I cannot get over it ! I love how its so crunchy, even with their special sauce covering the entire chicken. If you are going to begin cooking Korean Chicken or any of their popular dishes, you have got to start with this Yangnyeom Chicken Recipe. It's very easy, that you will get it on the first try for sure. The taste is so delicious. You will want to try other Korean dishes because of this recipe. Let's begin !
Flavor and prepare your Chicken !
Put 1kg Chicken, cut into 3 inch pieces, onto a bowl, and flavor it with 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper. Add 2 eggs, 1/4 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 cup potato starch and 1/2 tsp baking soda. Mix well using your hands until everything is fully incorporated and your chicken pieces are fully covered. Set Aside, and prepare to fry.
Fry on high heat !
Pre heat your cooking pan and put your stove on a high heat. When your pan is hot enough, you may start frying. Put enough oil to cover the chicken as this is deep fried. When the oil is searing hot, at around 330 degrees Fahrenheit if using a thermometer. Drop your marinated chicken onto the oil one by one. Make sure that your chicken is not touching each other. Just continue stirring while it cooks. Toss and turn your chicken once in a while. The first fry with take about 8 to 12 minutes depending on the size of your chicken. When done, drain and set aside. Do not turn off your stove because we are doing a second fry. This process will give your chicken that Korean style fried chicken crunch. Fry the already cooked chicken onto your pan for another 8 to 12 minutes. Same process, you have to stir the chicken to ensure that all sides are cooked. Remove from the oil, and drain. Set Aside.

Put your sauce pan on a medium heat stove. Put 2 tbsp oil, then add 3pcs minced garlic. Saute a bit then add 1/3 cup tomato ketchup, 1/3 cup honey or corn syrup, whichever is available, 2 tsp apple cider vinegar ( you may use regular white vinegar too), 2 tbsp gochujang paste and 2 tbsp samjang paste. Gochujang will make it spicy. Let it simmer. And this is the time that you would want to add the Crispy fried chicken. Toss and mix until all are covered with the sauce. Transfer it onto your serving plate and sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds on top!
